Many economists are warning us: we would be on the edge of a financial, economic and social tsunami that might make 2008 crisis look like a soft wave on the shore. Can we trust them?

 

On the media coverage point of view, they are right. Public opinion is in demand for “collapsology”. In economy as well as in ecology, the collapse theses are comforting because their demagogy is efficient. They validate the fact that elites (which means, others) are incompetent, that they are leading us towards the abyss and that common sense tantamounts to competence and experience. They suggest that individual failures do not exist because the entire society is the sole responsible of failure. Systematically planning the worst is not glorious, but it ensures a small media and financial income.
